It is with pride and enthusiasm that we invite you to the first public screening of the new video installation Daydreaming the sound under muted news by Inne Feenstra. The work is part of the annual Offspring exhibition, in which second-year participants showcase the work they have developed during their residency at De Ateliers. The title of this year’s Offspring is *Constant Ballads*.

The opening will take place on Thursday 28 May from 7.00 pm to 9.00 pm. From 29 May to 14 June, the exhibition can be visited from Wednesday to Sunday between 12.00 pm and 6.00 pm. The address is Stadhouderskade 86, Amsterdam.

In Daydreaming the sound under muted news, Inne Feenstra explores the physically intangible. This double-screen video installation shows, on one side, the hands of a deaf magician explaining a magic trick in sign language. On the other, an American kestrel, guided by a hand, hovering silently. In the emptiness of the sky, both images search for something that always remains out of reach, just outside the language, as if it were on the tip of your tongue.
In his work, Inne Feenstra focuses on the affective potential of the medium of film. He works outside the linear framework: creating loops, manipulating footage and distorting sound to constantly shift expectations. His cinematic experiments often extend beyond the confines of the screen. By isolating sensory aspects from the footage and incorporating the installation space, Feenstra initiates a deeply physical experience.
Feenstra graduated in 2024 from the Fine Art programme at the HKU University of Arts Utrecht. His final project, Fallen, was awarded the Wildcard Lab by the Netherlands Film Fund.
